Parents for Student Success
Parents at La Crescent Montessori & STEM School are involved. When teachers, parents, and students work together, it provides the most enriching personal growth experience for students along with a rigorous academic program. Parent involvement supports the foundations of a Montessori education, and through our involvement we are modeling community service for our children. The partnership between families and school offers many opportunities for parents to be involved in any way they are able. We believe parents have a great deal to offer through their knowledge, skills, time, and resources. A list of the ways in which parents can become involved is at the end of this page.

A Year at La Crescent Montessori & STEM School
We partner with La Crescent-Hokah school district for busing, and therefore follow their district calendar. Each year has new and exciting events, but there are some things that can be expected. Prior to the start of school, there will be an orientation night for family to come and drop-off their school supplies, see the classrooms, chat with teachers, and meet other families. Throughout the year, the Adolescent Program puts on “Coffee and Scram” events roughly one Friday morning a month. We have a catalog sales fundraiser in the fall to raise money for classroom materials. We strive to select vendors that reflect our respect for the environment and support artisans. Parent-teacher conferences are held in November. In January, we have our annual meeting and election for any open school board seats. March brings our annual Chili and Chocolate Event. March will be the second set of parent-teacher conferences. Every-other year students perform in an all-school play, integrating students of every age. In May, we hold our annual Environmental Art Fair. At the end of the year, parents are invited for our “Bridging Ceremony,” in which students who will enter a new classroom walk the bridge to their new teacher. All students attend and participate in this ceremony.
Our Facebook page allows visitors and prospective families to follow events and announcements from our school! We also post pictures of our classrooms, staff, and special events! Prospective parents may also wish to have a personal tour to see our school, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of a Montessori & STEM education. To schedule a tour of our free, public charter school, contact our office!
